Irwin Allan Sealy


Irwin Allan Sealy is an Indian novelist and poet. He lives in the foothills of the Himalayas where he writes for a living. His first novel The Trotter-Nama: A Chronicle was published in 1988 and tells the story of seven generations of an Anglo-Indian family and it is regarded as one of the classics of modern Indian writing. His The Everest Hotel: A Calendar was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1998. Sealy has won a number of awards for his writing including the Commonwealth Best Book Award in 1989, Sahitya Akademi Award in 1991, the Crossword Book Award in 1998 and the Padma Shiri in 2012.
