Cha Writing Workshop Series The Cha Writing Workshop Series, organized by Tammy Ho Lai-Ming and Eddie Tay, in partnership with the Hong Kong Poetry Festival Foundation. The series, which aims to provide workshops for local school children, as well as economically and socially disadvantaged groups, is also supported by the English Departments at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Baptist University. It features workshops conducted by writers, translators and educators affiliated with Cha: An Asian Literary Journal, who may also give talks on literature, language, writing, craft, and more. The Modern-day Flavours of Nanyin and Naamyam We provided sound equipment for the music program The Modern-day Flavours of Nanyin and Naamyam, featuring artists including Dickson Dee (Electronic Music), Yayi Cai (Quanzhou Nanyin), Silai Chen (Quanzhou Nanyin), Chi-kong Chan (Naamyam), Milosh Luczynski (MOD & multi-media), Terry Tsang (dance) and Chris Song (poetry). Dialogue between Chinese and Indian Writers The Dialogue between Chinese and Indian Writers was organized by Hong Kong Poetry Festival Foundation and two prominent literary magazines—Today from China and Almost Island from India. The Dialogue was held in Hong Kong on 13-14 October 2018 at the University Museum and Art Gallery, The University of Hong Kong. Today and Almost Island have been convening contemporary Chinese and Indian writers, critics, musicians and artists for international cultural exchange since 2009. Their ongoing discussions covered a wide range of topics—literature, music and art, as well as culture, politics and history, in company with poetry recitals, fiction readings and music performances. After the events in Hong Kong, they furthered their conversations in Hangzhou, Mainland China.
Six Open Lectures on Poetry and Poetics In August 2018, we invited Prof. Jin Siyan from the Université d’Artois in France to give six open lectures on poetry and poetics. Chinese poets Bei Dao, Chen Dongdong, Ling Wang also attended the lectures as discussants and moderators. The lectures were hosted by La vie matêrielle in Shenzhen, China.
