Li Tuo is a Chinese writer, critic and adjunct research associate in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University. He is the author of the novel Beijing Blues, Wither Falls the Avalanche, as well as numerous other works. In the 1980s, he became a prize winning fiction writer and screenplay writer. In his role as the Executive Editor of Beijing Literature, he helped bring about a new generation of avant-garde writers in contemporary China. Li Tuo was the founding editorof Horizons in the mid-1990s and co-edited the journal with Chen Yangu. He is also a longstanding member of the editorial board of the literary magazine Today.

李陀,作家、評論家。著作包括《雪崩何處》,《無名指》等。八十年代期間,他主要從事小說和電影劇本的創作,並擔任《北京文學》副主編, 對新一代先鋒文學的培養和開拓做出了重要貢獻。九十年代中期始與陳燕谷共同創建和主編以「新學人、新學術、新思想」為目標的《視界》,並長期參與文學刊物《今天》的出版和編輯工作。現為哥倫比亞大學東亞系客座研究員。

Lydia H. Liu is a writer, scholar, and theorist of media and translation. She is Wun Tsun Tam Professor in the Humanities and the Director of the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society, Columbia University. A former Guggenheim Fellow and the recipient of numerous awards, she is the author of The Freudian Robot: Digital Media and the Future of the Unconscious; The Clash of Empires: The Invention of China in Modern World Making;and Translingual Practice: Literature, National Culture, and Translated Modernityamongother works in English and Chinese.Her experimental non-fiction in Chinese The Nesbit Code won the 7thHong Kong Book Award in 2014.

劉禾,學者,作家,理論家。現為美國哥倫比亞大學終身人文講席教授,並擔任比較文學與社會研究所所長。曾獲美國古根海姆大獎等多項獎項,著有 The Freudian Robot(佛氏偶人);《帝國的話語政治》(中譯)以及 《跨語際實踐》(中譯)等多種著作。劉禾的中文作品《六個字母的解法》(香港牛津大學出版社出版)榮獲 2014 年第七屆香港書獎。

Vivek Narayanan

Vivek Narayanan was born in India and raised in Zambia. He earned an MA in cultural anthropology from Stanford University and an MFA in creative writing from Boston University.  He was a Fellow at the Radcliffe Institute, Harvard University (2013-14) and a Cullman Fellow at the New York Public Library (2015-16) for work on his ongoing project, an experimental “writing through” of the Sanskrit of Valmiki’s Ramayana.  Narayanan’s books of poems include Universal Beach and Life and Times of Mr. S.  A full-length collection of his poems in Swedish translation was published in 2015 by the Stockholm-based Wahlström & Widstrand. He is co-editor of Almost Island, a ten-year old India-based online journal, literary organization, and publisher.

Sharmistha Mohanty is the author of three works of fiction, Book One, New Life, and Five Movements in Praise. She has also translated a selection of Rabindranath Tagore’s prose works, Broken Nest and Other Stories. She has just completed a book of poems, The Gods Came Afterwards. Mohanty is the founding editor of the online journal Almost Island and the initiator of the Almost Island Dialogues series, an annual international writers’ convention held in New Delhi. Mohanty is the recipient of several fellowships, including one at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Germany, as well as a Senior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture in India. Most recently she was a participant in the Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2016-17 with her poetry, sound and light installation titled I Make New the Song Born of Old; she was a co-curator for the Slovenian poetry festival Days of Poetry and Wine in 2017.

Mohi Baha’ud-din Dagar is an exponent of the Rudraveena, which is an ancient classical musical instrument of India. He practises this instrument in the genre “Dhrupad,” which is the oldest living vocal tradition of India and traces its roots to the SamVed. Over the years his music continuously searches for new ways of expression without breaking the traditional format. In 2012, he was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, the highest award for performing artists, conferred by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India’s National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama.

Kabir Mohanty is an Indian filmmaker and video artist. His most recent four-part work, Song for an Ancient Land, is a 4 ½ hour essay around contemporary India. The work was shown at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York in 2012, and more recently at the Kochi Muziris Biennale from December 2016 to March 2017. Over a period of thirty years, he has presented his works at various film festivals, art galleries and museums. He is currently working on a miniature 9-channel-video 16-channel-audio installation. He was educated at Presidency College in Calcutta and at the University of Iowa. From 2002 to 2004, he was a Visiting Artist at the Art Department, University of California Los Angeles.

卡比爾.默罕迪(Kabir Mohanty)是電影製片人兼視像藝術家,曾就讀於北爾加答的總統學院(Presidency College in Calcutta)及愛荷華大學。2002 至 2004 年,他於洛杉磯的加洲大學藝術系任駐校藝術家。他的四部曲作品 Song for an Ancient Land 是一部長達 4.5 小時的影片,以當代印度為主題的故事。該作品於 2012 年、2016 年 12 月至 2017 年 3 月,分別於紐約古根漢博物館(Solomon R. K. Satchidanandan is perhaps the most translated of contemporary Indian poets, having 31 collections of translation in 19 languages including Chinese, English, Irish, Arabic, French, German and Italian, as well as all major Indian languages like Tamil, Bengali and Hindi. His selected essays in six theme-based volumes are being brought out by Mathrubhumi Books. He has represented India to attend many international literary festivals and book fairs. He was a professor of English, and later the chief executive of the Sahitya Akademi (Indian National Academy of Literature), the Director of the School of Translation Studies, Indira Gandhi Open University and National Fellow, Indian Institute of Advanced Study. He is a Fellow of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi and has won 42 literary awards from different states and countries.
